Dayton, Ohio – A fresh chapter is beginning at the historic Dayton Arcade: Nook & Needle, a first-of-its-kind cross-stitch and book shop, will officially open its doors in the Arcade’s North Arcade retail marketplace in late summer 2025. As Dayton’s only dedicated cross-stitch store and the region’s first boutique to pair cross-stitch with curated literature, Nook & Needle is stitching together creativity and community in one cozy, welcoming space.
Founded by brother and sister duo and native Daytonians, Brian Jones and Kat Jones-Shank, Nook & Needle aims to inspire both experienced needleworkers and curious beginners with a thoughtfully selected range of modern and traditional cross-stitch kits, patterns, supplies, and handpicked books that complement the meditative joy of stitching.
“Nook & Needle is more than just a store — it’s a space where people can slow down, create, and connect,” said Kat Jones-Shank. “The Dayton Arcade has long been a dream location for me — a place where history, creativity, and community meet. We’re honored to add our thread to its rich tapestry and help weave a new story as this iconic space comes to life again.”
The shop’s prime location inside the Dayton Arcade — a beautifully revitalized historical complex in the heart of downtown — positions it as both a retail destination and a community hub. Customers can look forward to upcoming stitching meets, reading circles, and hands-on workshops launching this fall.
As Dayton continues to grow as a center for arts and innovation, Nook & Needle is proud to contribute a new creative experience to the city’s cultural landscape.
Nook & Needle joins North Arcade retail marketplace tenants Smales Pretzel Bakery and Luke’s Custom Cakes, with more tenants to be announced this summer.

ABOUT THE DAYTON ARCADE
Cross Street Partners, Model Group, and McCormack Baron Salazar are redeveloping the historic Dayton Arcade, a collection of nine buildings totaling over 500,000 SF in the heart of downtown Dayton’s central business district. The full development plan recasts the Arcade in much the same way it was initially developed in the first decade of the 20th century—with a mix of retail, offices, event space and housing. The first phase of the project, the South Arcade, houses an innovation center with the University of Dayton as a higher education partner. Included in the South Arcade are 110-unit residential LIHTC and market rate development for artists and creative entrepreneurs, a shared commercial kitchen program, multiple event spaces, and food and beverage-focused retail. The second phase, the North Arcade, will include a marketplace retail and restaurant environment as well as a 93-room Hilton Garden Inn.
